AMAZON · REPORTCSV / XLSX

The Sponsored Products Campaign Report.

You want to know whether a campaign is getting better or worse, not just what it cost this month.

What the file contains.

One row per campaign per day, with impressions, clicks, spend, attributed sales, orders and the derived ACOS and ROAS. It is the account seen from the highest altitude advertising reporting offers.

That altitude is both its use and its limitation. It shows where budget is allocated and which campaigns carry the volume, which is the right starting point for a monthly review. It also averages away everything inside a campaign — a campaign at an acceptable ACOS can contain a dozen search terms that have spent for months without an order, and this file will never say so.

Read it to decide where to look, then open the search term report to find out what is actually happening there.

The one column worth reading against spend before anything else is the daily budget. A campaign spending its full cap every day is constrained by budget; a campaign spending a third of it is constrained by bids or by targeting, and raising the budget will change nothing. Those two situations look identical in a spend column sorted descending, and they need opposite responses.

What it can tell you.

  • How spend is distributed across campaigns, and whether that matches intent
  • Which campaigns are above and below break-even ACOS
  • Which campaigns are budget-capped and which never spend their cap
  • How the account's blended ACOS is composed, rather than just what it is

Columns worth understanding.

Campaign Budget
The daily cap. Compared against spend it separates campaigns constrained by budget from those constrained by bid — completely different fixes.
Attributed Sales
Revenue credited to the campaign inside the attribution window, not revenue you banked and not net of returns.

Where reading it goes wrong.

  1. 01

    Ranking campaigns by ACOS

ACOS is only meaningful against the margin of the products inside the campaign. A campaign of thin-margin accessories at 25% may be losing money while one of high-margin units at 35% is comfortably profitable.

  2. 02

Cutting the worst campaign without looking inside it

A campaign is a container. Its bad number is usually a handful of targetings, and pausing the container throws away the ones that worked alongside them.
